A reader’s letter that appeared in a local edition of a national daily that demanded the expansion of the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) by including semi-urban areas like Santa Cruz, Bambolim, Porvorim, etc, saw the Santa Cruz villagers vehemently oppose any such move.
The issue was highlighted by St Cruz Education and Action Movement which brought to the notice of the panchayat by submitting the copy of the daily and said that any moves to include Santa Cruz in CCP would be met with stiff resistance. A resolution was passed that no area from Santa Cruz should be allowed to be part of CCP.
