PANJIM: A 19-year-old girl was rescued by lifeguards at Arrossim as she attempted suicide by venturing into the raging sea on Friday afternoon.
Reports from Drishti Special Response Services informed that their lifeguards spotted a girl entering the water and was proceeding away from the safe zone even as the two stationed lifeguards signalled her not to wade further.
The lifeguards on duty Laxman Chalwadi and Prashant Madar rushed to her rescue by which time she had already reached the point of collapse. Both lifeguards brought the victim safely ashore. The teenager,  a resident of Sancoale, informed them that she wished to commit suicide. Later, Verna police took over the matter.
