For months now, the people of Mandrem are pleading with the government to provide them with proper roads and a regular supply of water, but these cries fall on deaf ears. The pothole-infested roads in Pernem taluka, which boasts of beautiful beaches and high-end restaurants, are a nightmare and fast becoming death traps for commuters. Carnival and Shigmo in the village were celebrated on a grand scale with actors and dancers as invitees, while the villagers suffered behind the glitz and glamour. Fed up with the unresolved issues the locals have questioned the Mandrem MLA if his focus was the festival of Carnival and Shigmo to mint in more money.
People in Mandrem are facing difficult times, due to the haphazard underground cabling works. The dusty roads lead to pollution in Mandrem, thereby endangering the health of the young and the old. The people in the constituency are struggling with acute water shortage, as they do not get a proper water supply for consumption or hygiene.
