PANJIM: A local, who had recently returned from Red Zones of COVID-19, has created panic amongst the residents of Ribandar. The man has been fearlessly breaking the quarantine rules, despite several warnings from the authorities.
The residents of Milroc Retreat, Ribandar have raised alarm about the man, who has returned to Goa on May 7, from Red Zones in Rajasthan, Ahmedabad in Gujarat and also attended a family wedding reception in Pune. Though he was tested negative for COVID-19 infection, the person flouted quarantine norms and was living with his family as well as moving out freely.

Speaking to Herald, Society Secretary Amit Chopra said that the person, along with his brother travelled to Goa on May 7.
“He was stopped at the checkpost on May 6 night, for having no permission to enter the State. He was asked to wait by Goa Police for necessary medical check and permission. However, the person managed to escape from the site and reached Vasco, where his brother owns a flat,” he explained.
Chopra said that the society, where his brother owns a flat, informed the authorities about their arrival and hence were taken to primary health center for checkup, where the tests were reported negative, and after few hours, they were discharged and asked to be under home quarantine for 14 days.
“However, the person came to Ribandar and stayed with his family and even operated the super-market, owned by him. The home quarantine norms were violated,” he said adding that the Milroc Society members then informed the concerned authorities including Talathi, Police and Health for necessary action.
Chopra informed that after much action from the authorities, the person is now, apparently staying in a separate bungalow in Babu Nagar, while his family has also placed themselves under self quarantine.
“We were ready to help the family in all possible way but you cannot risk your life, your family life as well as others,” he explained.
Former Panjim MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar had also taken to social media to raise alarm about the man and had sought necessary action from the authorities.
