The farmers had cultivated local veggies, gerbera flowers, beans, sugarcane, chillies and others. However, for the last two months, the wild gaurs are entering into their fields and destroying their cultivation.

They even approached the Zonal Agriculture Office, Pernem and requested the authorities to come up with a solution. However, the authorities failed to solve the issue.

“Farmers are suffering because of these wild Gaurs are destroying the fields. First of all because of the lockdown, farmers are unable to move out and sell their produce and now this issue of wild Gaurs is uncontrollable,” a local farmer named Prabhudesai said.

“ We even approached the Agriculture Department however they failed to come up with solution,” he added.
