PONDA: Khandepar villagers on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Collector for immediate removal of encroachments at Opa Khandepar junction and make space for a bus shed in view of the school children’s safety.
According to social worker Sandeep Parkar, the PWD has given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for construction of bus shed at Opa Khandepar junction but due to alleged encroachments by two kiosks in the government acquired land, the bus shed construction takes a back seat. Hundreds of students wait for the buses to pick them up on the edge the of road, which make them vulnerable to accidents.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has already demanded a bus shed in the disputed spot.
A company had even shown interest to construct the bus shed provided the encroachments are removed from the land.
