SANGUEM: The Parents Teachers Association of Lokvishwas Prathesthan High School Sirvoi-Quepem has strongly opposed the school management’s move to merge the school with another institute in Quepem town.

The PTA Chairman Deepti Naik informed that the Lokvishwas Prathesthan High School at Sirvoi was started seven years back and had enrollment figures of 65 students in the last academic year from Class V to X.

Naik informed that when the management informed the PTA of its decision to merge the school with the Quepem school citing financial constraints, the PTA strongly opposed the management’s move and urged the school management not to merge the school with the Quepem institute as the move will be detrimental to the students’ future.

Naik informed that most of the students studying at the Lokvishwas Prathesthan High School at Sirvoi had earlier shifted from the same school where the management has now signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

“This will have serious impact on the students and their studies,” claimed Naik.

Naik informed that when the school management informed the PTA about its decision, the PTA wrote to the Director of Education in December last of the repercussion the proposed move would have on the students and urged the Director of Education not to permit the school merger with another institute in Quepem.

PTA in their letter had brought to the notice of the Director of Education of the availability of good teachers and other infrastructural facilities in the school due to which the students had fared better and improved considerably.

Former Shiv Sena South Goa President Dhanraj Naik also urged the government not to merge the Sirvoi school with that of Quepem school as it would have severe impact on the students future who have been studying in the school for last seven years. Naik assured his full support and co operation to the school PTA in getting the management changed its decision.

PTA chairperson urged the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to direct the Education Department to study the issue seriously and take the teachers and the PTA members into confidence before any decision is finalised into the matter. Even if any order stands issued with respect to the merger of the Sirvoi school with that of Quepem School than the same should be reverted back immediately.
