CANACONA: After remaining at the helm of affairs as sarpanch of Loliem-Polem for two years, Ajay Lolienkar submitted his resignation to the Director of Panchayat on Monday.
Lolienkar stepped down as per the pact he had with the other panch members of the ruling group wherein it was decided that he would step down to pave way for another member to take over. In his resignation letter, Lolienkar has asked the Director of Panchayat to consider his resignation effective from 19th of this month.
Sources said that as per the mutually agreed conditions, Shailesh Pagi will be the next sarpanch, who will resign after one year to make way for another panch from the ruling group to become the sarpanch.
When contacted over the phone, Lolienkar said that he would like to thank the people of Loliem-Polem, his colleagues and Canacona law maker Isidore Fernandes for helping him in making his term as sarpanch as a memorable one for him.
