PERNEM: Residents of Mandrem on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police North highlighting the issue of loud music played late night in a star resort at Mandrem.

The residents in their complaint stated that the Riva Resort located at Junaswada in Mandrem is organising musical events openly with loud music played continues till midnight causing inconvenience to the people residing in surrounding area.
“The resort without making proper arrangement to avoid disturbance and without taking permissions from the concerned authority conducts events and since the resort is situated close to the locality having dwelling houses, the loud music played causes disturbances to the neighbouring people”, said the complaint.
The complaint read, “Since the resort is also closely located to the sea which is also declared as turtle nesting site, it is violating the norms and as the music starts from 4.30 pm and continues till midnight”.
Locals stated that they have time and again made written and oral complaints to local police but in vain.
“The police never bothered to act as well as the local authorities failed to curb the loud music played by the resort. We request you to direct the Pernem police to take stern action against Riva Beach Resort for creating nuisance by playing loud music thereby disturbing the peace”, said the complaint.
