CALANGUTE, NOV 17
Six tourists escaped with minor injuries, after the tourist bus in which they were traveling fell in the field at Chivar-Anjuna on Wednesday evening.
The accident occurred when Antonio Rodrigues, driver of the tourist bus (GA-01-Z-5349), was negotiating another oncoming vehicle.
The bus tilted in the paddy field, injuring six tourists, who were rushed to Asilo Hospital in Mapusa for medical attention. Other passengers escaped unhurt.
The six injured have been identified as Naresh Shetty (39), Lalithan Dhawan (48) and Abhijit Dhawan (15), all native of Delhi, Laxmi Unni (47) and Vidhya Rajan (45) of Mumbai and Kajibhai Limbhat (38) of Gujarat.
According to Anjuna Police, the tourist bus was carrying 25 persons, all employees of Nagpur Productivity Council Ministry of Commerce and Trade, who were returning to their hotel in Panjim after their visit to the Anjuna beach.
Anjuna Police team headed by PI Manjunath Dessai and PSI Chandrakant Gawas took stock of the accident, while Anjuna-Caisua Sarpanch Lavino Rebello rushed to the site of the accident. The Mapusa fire tender removed the other passengers from the bus.
