MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Luizinho Faleiro on Friday directed his tirade at the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, accusing the new government for its failure to check ceasefire violations, price rise and inflation.
As far as the BJP government’s performance in Goa was concerned, the GPCC president preferred not to mention the name of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in his address, while only questioning the government on the creation of new jobs and bringing new industries in the state.
Even on the sensitive airport issue, Faleiro failed to take the Chief Minister head on for floating the Request for Qualification (RFQ) tender, though he made it clear that the expert reports clearly states that two airports are not feasible in a small state like Goa. He, however, took pot shots at his political adversaries, saying that certain people accuse him for promoting Mopa while conveniently trying to hide his correspondence opposing the two
airports in Goa.
“The BJP had promised there will be no ceasefire violations along the border and will bring down the prices and reduce inflation. Modi had promised to bring back the black money running into crores within 100 days. But the NDA government has failed in all spheres. The Chinese army entered into India when Modi was playing host to the Chinese President. The Gujarat government signed three protocols with China when the latter raised a dispute on Arunachal Pradesh”, Faleiro asserted.
Referring to fears expressed by senior Congress leaders that the young blood is hesitating to join the Congress out of fear of the BJP government, Faleiro sought to know how many jobs the government has provided to the unemployed so far and the number of industries setting up shops in Goa.
He appealed to the Congress leadership to take the ideology, policies and programs, besides the achievements of the UPA government, before the people during the intensive membership drive.
