PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Friday approved lump sum retirement benefits for retired Rural and Development Agency employees, who had completed 20 years in service and had superannuated from April 1, 2012.
Addressing media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Friday, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that the retired RDA employees had not received any pension benefits, hence the government decided to provide lump-sum retirement benefits to the employees who have served for 20 years.
“The benefits will be applicable to those employees who have retired from April 1, 2012 onwards,” Parsekar said, in the presence of RDA Minister Francisco Pacheco. He said that, presently there are people who have retired from RDA, of which only 10 have completed 20 years.
Under the approved scheme, a retired accounts officer will get benefits of Rs 10 lakh, assistant project officer Rs 9 lakh, accountant, head clerk and senior steno Rs 8 lakh, UDC, statistical assistant and steno Rs 7 lakh, LDC and drivers Rs 6.50 lakh and peon Rs 5 lakh each.
Government has made a provision of Rs 1 crore for the RDA pensions, Parsekar said.
In yet another decision, the Cabinet has amended and renamed the Goa Youth Rojgar Yojna as Din Dayal Swayam Rojgar Yojana, launched in 2001, by further increasing the age limit of the beneficiaries from 40 years to 42 years.
