MARGAO: The Macasana gram sabha on Sunday unanimously resolved to permit a mobile tower in the village provided it is set up only near the church or in church property and not in any private land.
Sarpanch Agnelo Costa informed that he had received two applications, from two different companies, to erect a mobile tower in the village and sought the villagers’ opinion.
After some discussion, the villagers agreed to having a mobile tower in their village but insisted that it be erected in church property. Let the income accruing from the mobile tower go to the church instead of any individual, was the overall opinion.
The gram sabha also resolved to urge the Sports Authority of Goa to expedite the remaining work on the construction and development of the ground and asked the panchayat to follow up with it so that the ground is handed over to the panchayat as soon as possible.
Once the ground is handed over, the same can be inaugurated and the village youth can start using the ground for sports, the villagers said.
