MARGAO: Fed up with the constant power failures and the very casual attitude of the Electricity Department staff, Macasana Sarpanch Agnelo D’Costa has threatened to gherao the Assistant Engineer if the power situation does not improve in the village within the next seven days.
“On Sunday which is a day of holiday that the family spends together, one phase was not working throughout the day causing a lot of hardships to people”, he said adding that due to the constant power failures equipments of many people have been damaged.
“The Junior Engineer keeps his phone off while the land line is always kept off the hook,” he said complaining against the electricity department staff. Besides being discussed at the gram sabha, the panchayat has also written to the electricity department but nothing has happened.
“If the situation does not improve within a week, I shall be forced to gherao the Assistant Engineer with the villagers,” he said.
