PANJIM: BJP’s Cumbharjua candidate Pandurang Madkaikar on Sunday hit out at his detractors saying they cannot defeat him hence they are making baseless allegations.
Madkaikar, who was a Congress MLA switched over to BJP this election. The BJP faced ciriticism for taking Madkaikar from outside and within as Manohar Parrikar had earlier charged him of corruption.
“When I was with Congress I was a good person but when I move to BJP I suddenly become bad,” Madkaikar told reporters.
He said that he has no capable opponent in the constituency either from Congress or any other.
“People of Cumbharjua are with me and for me that is the biggest support. They know me as a politician who works for the people and the development I have done is there for everyone to see,” he said.
Releasing his manifesto for the constituency, he said, he would strive for a Master plan for Old Goa.
“Old Goa being a World Heritage site I want to protect the area and hence will work to get a master plan approved,” he said.
Further, amongst other promises, Madkaikar has Development of Carambolim lake, water tank at Corlim village, a market complex at Old Goa, mini Ravindra Bhavan, hotmixing of roads and regular water supply.
”Jobs for unemployed youth would be major promise to the voters,” he said.
