PANJIM: The opposition Congress has slammed Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for insulting Chatarapati Shivaji Maharaj and has demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must make his stand clear over the issue.
Alleging that the BJP has used “Hindutva” and “Names of great leaders” only for its political convenience, Congress media cell chairman Arnarnath Panjikar said that BJP has no respect for Hindutva, great leaders of India and their so-called patriotism is fake.
Reacting sharply to the Statement of Koshyari who had said that Chatrapati Shivaji’s legacy is outdated now and compared him to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and BJP spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi alleging that Shivaji wrote five apology letters to Aurangzeb, Panjikar strongly condemned both the statements terming them disgusting.
“I demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must make his stand clear on the disgusting statements made by Maharashtra Governor and BJP spokesperson. Why Chief Minister is maintaining a conspicuous silence? Panjikar questioned.
Panjikar has hoped that the Chief Minister will act wisely and avoid any backlash from the followers of Shivaji Maharaj. He claimed that legacy of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will continue forever.
Appealing to the people of Goa to understand the hidden agenda of the BJP, Panjikar charged that the BJP has no respect for great leaders of India and their only agenda is to use “Religion”, “Patriotism” and “Great Leaders” for political mileage and eventually dump them.
