MAYEM: Mahashivratri, the festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, was celebrated in different temples across the State on Tuesday, as devotees performed various rituals with traditional fervour.
In Bicholim taluka, the festival was celebrated in large scale at the Rudreshwar temple in Harvalem, as a large number of devotees performed the Shivmahimnastotra, Rudrabhishek and Dugdabhishek to mark the festival. Some families also too a holy dip in the river.
Police made elaborate security and traffic arrangement under the supervision of DySP Gajanan Prabhudesai and PI Rupen Shetgaonkar. The Temple Committee members and the Purohit Shivanand Khedekar had worked overtime before and during the festival.
Mahashivratri was also celebrated in a big way across Bicholim and Sattari talukas.
