MAPUSA: The make-shift controversial helipad, which had come up overnight in the fields of Mapusa Dev Bodgeshwar Temple, was finally cleared using the earth moving machinery, on Saturday.

It may be recalled that the helipad was constructed overnight and had become a hot topic for discussion in the State especially for the Mapusa residents, which was especially constructed to land the helicopter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during this visit to the town, prior to the Assembly elections. However, the PM’s helicopter never landed on this helipad.

The people of Mapusa, who are eagerly waiting for a full-fledged bus stand, a state-of-the-art market and Ravindra Bhavan had got this helipad constructed overnight in the fields by the government by wasting the hard earned money of taxpayers. President of Shree Bodgeshwar Xerkari Sangh Sanjay Barde said, “Destroying the helipad without making any use of it shows the complete failure of BJP government. Since, along with the destruction of fields, the government have wasted the taxpayers’ money.”
