PONDA: Suspecting the machinery in the mortuary unit at Ponda Sub District Hospital to be second hand, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar has asked Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

PONDA: Suspecting the machinery in the mortuary unit at Ponda Sub District Hospital to be second hand, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar has asked Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to conduct an inquiry into the matter.It may be recalled that a corpse preserved in the morgue on November 7 was found decomposed on Tuesday, when family members had gone to take custody of the body..
Meanwhile, the corpse was handed over to the family of the deceased for final rites on Wednesdya afternoon.Ponda Sub District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr M Mohandas informed Herald that he has already sent a report regarding the incident to the Health Department.
“Late Tuesday evening, engineers from the GSIDC inspected the morgue and according to their report, the temperature in compartments is normal, but they found that the compartment door was loose. I have sent a report regarding the incident to the Directorate of Health Services”, informed Dr Mohandas.
