PANJIM: The Office of AYUSH Minister in Goa has written to Old Goa police informing that Vinod Desai, booked for cheating job seekers, is not on its staff.
A person had lodged a complaint at the Old Goa police station that Desai, who he alleged had been working in the office of Union Minister Shripad Naik at Sao Pedro, had offered to arrange a job as ‘senior assistant’ at Goa Secretariat on payment of Rs 6 lakh in November 2014 but failed to do so.
In this regard, the minister’s office has denied any links with the alleged accused stating, “As per the records, there was no staffer by the name of Vinod Desai working in the office of AYUSH minister. For confirmation, all records can be verified at any time in the AYUSH Minister’s camp office at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto Panjim. The camp office of the former union tourism & culture minister and present AYUSH minister is functioning at Paryatan Bhavan since October 2014 and not in Sao Pedro which is the residence of the minister,” the letter by Suraj Naik, assistant private secretary to the Union minister, said.
“He has not been appointed as a staff of either Union minister for AYUSH or under the former Union minister for tourism & culture or as Member of Parliament since 1999 till date,” the letter adds.
