Man held for assaulting 3 policemen at Dabolim

Accomplice to be arrested upon discharge from GMC

VASCO: A man has been arrested, while another will be arrested upon discharge from GMC, Bambolim, for assaulting a PSI and two police constables at Assoi Dongri, Dabolim, on Tuesday night.
According to LPSI Nehanda Tavares, Vasco police received a call from Assoi Dongri locals at around 9.35 informing of some ruckus in the village. Vasco Police sent a team of four PSIs and 20 police constables to the site, where they found one Nikesh Lot and his companion Frazer Rodrigues verbally abusing the public and pelting stones at passersby and houses from the terrace of a one-storey house. The duo then started abusing the police.
PSI Rohan Madgaonkar and constables Rajat Kurtikar and Sunil Mashelkar attempted to climb to the terrace from the back, but were spotted by the two accused, who started pelting stones at them.
“Due to the pelting of stones, Madgaonkar and the two constables sustained injuries on their heads. After injuring the police, the accused tried to flee, but were caught and thrashed by the locals. Nikesh sustained serious injuries, while Rodrigues sustained minor injuries,” said Tavares.
She continued, “The injured policemen and accused were shifted to Cottage Hospital, Chicalim. Nikesh was referred to GMC, Bambolim, for further treatment, while the three policemen and Rodrigues were discharged after treatment.”
Vasco police have registered a case against Rodrigues and Nikesh under Sections 332, 353, 324, 504 read with Section 34 of IPC. Rodrigues has arrested and remanded to two-day police custody. Nikesh will be arrested once he is discharged from GMC. LPSI Nehanda Tavares is further investigating the case.
Incidentally, Vasco police sources have informed that Nikesh was booked twice in the past for similar incidents of stone pelting and abusing the public.
