MARGAO: An unknown person got drowned off Colva beach on Thursday morning.
According to the Drishti lifeguards, on Thursday at around 8.20 am there was a case of medical emergency along the Colva beach wherein an unknown man ventured into the waters and started drifting away into the sea.
Lifeguards Dhiraj Girap and Sandeep Matker saw the victim in trouble and rushed to his aid and brought him ashore.
On checking the victim’s vitals, they observed that he was facing difficulty in breathing and they immediately administered oxygen. They called for an 108 Ambulance. While administering oxygen, the victim got aggressive and in the process he bit a lifeguard.
The victim was later taken into the ambulance to Hospicio hospital, Margao. Since the victim needed urgent medical help, the doctors began treating him despite him being uncooperative.
The victim continued his aggressive behaviour with the doctors. The doctors had to use restraining bands to hold the victim down while administering first aid. Twenty minutes later the doctors declared the victim as dead.
While inquiring with the Colva Police Sub-Inspector about the victim, he said, the body was yet to be identified and an autopsy will be conducted on July 7.
