Mandatai Bandekar’s mortal remains consigned to flames

VASCO: People from all walks of life paid their last respects to Mandatai Bandekar (70), wife of Vasco-based industrialist and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries chairman Narayan Bandekar, who passed away at a private hospital in Margao following a brief illness in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The mortals remain of Mandatai Bandekar were consigned to flames at the Vasco crematorium later on Tuesday evening.
Among those offering condolences to the bereaved family included Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, Speaker Rajendra Arlekar, Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar, Power Minister Milind Naik, RDA Minister Mickky Pacheco, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal and Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik, former MP Ramakant Khalap, former former minister Jose Philip D’Souza, Congress Committee National Executive member Girish Chodankar, former GPCC president Sankalp Amonkar and other political leaders from all over the State.
Mandatai Bandekar was the chairperson of Bhartya Vidhya Bhavan School (Sancoale), chairperson of Sachyagardaan Music Academy, joint managing director of NRB Group of Companies, trustee of Manda and Narayan Bandekar Charitable Trust and publisher of first Goan weekly ‘Valanasa’ from Vasco.
