PERNEM: After a Mandrem local tested positive for COVID-19, local MLA Dayanand Sopte on Friday appealed to the people of Pernem taluka to take precautionary measures.

Sopte also appealed to the people to immediately inform the authorities of COVID-19 positive cases, when they come across.

“Taking care of health by taking precautions is need of the hour right now. I appeal to the people to stay indoors, and if they have information of any such case, they should immediately dial the emergency helpline number or they can contact me and inform about the same, so that, necessary actions can be taken,” he said.

“Today morning I came to know through social media that a person from Mandrem is suspected have symptoms of Coronavirus. When I found out through my sources that the particular person recently come down to Goa. He was also roaming around in the vicinity and has also interacted with people. He also operates a bar in his house due to which many people had also visited his house. I request this particular family to immediately quarantine themselves after getting checked themselves,” Sopte said.

He emphasised those who visited the bar also need to be identified and quarantined along with their family members to arrest the spread of virus.
