Mandrem Village Panchayat goes cashless with Canara Bank’s support

PERNEM: In a significant step towards realizing the vision of a cashless economy and Digital India, Mandrem Village Panchayat has made a remarkable transition to cashless transactions at its office. The move was initiated on Tuesday, coinciding with the completion of the sitting Sarpanch’s first year in office. This transformation has been made possible through a collaborative effort with Canara Bank, which has been instrumental in providing the necessary support and infrastructure.

The Sarpanch, who has been a driving force behind this endeavor, expressed his gratitude to all the Panchayat members and staff for their unwavering cooperation. He stated, “We are determined to succeed in this transformative journey towards a cashless economy. It is not merely a change in the way we conduct transactions, but a broader vision of empowering our community with digital literacy and financial inclusion.”

Recognizing the need for extensive education and guidance, the Sarpanch emphasized the importance of extending support to the villagers during this transition. “Our foremost goal is to build confidence within the community, helping them understand that digital transactions are not only secure but also easy to carry out,” he affirmed.

The collaboration with Canara Bank has played a pivotal role in facilitating this transition. The bank has provided the Panchayat with the necessary resources, technological infrastructure, and expertise to make this shift to digital transactions as seamless as possible.

Rajesh Kumar, Manager of Canara Bank, Pernem Branch, shared his enthusiasm about this initiative. “We are thrilled to be a part of this endeavor to create a cashless ecosystem at the grassroots level. This partnership with Mandrem Village Panchayat aligns perfectly with the Government of India’s vision of Digital India, and we are committed to providing the required support to ensure its success,” he stated.

In the coming weeks, the Panchayat plans to conduct a series of awareness campaigns, workshops, and training sessions to equip villagers with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the digital landscape confidently. Experts and volunteers will be engaged to assist and educate residents in adopting digital payment methods, ultimately fostering financial inclusivity.
