PERNEM: The Mandrem Village Panchayat headed by newly elected Sarpanch Amit Sawant has called for a special meeting to discuss the garbage menace issue plaguing the village.
Prior to the recent panchayat elections, Herald had highlighted how the beautiful village of Mandrem is blessed with natural beauty and has become a dumping ground for garbage.
Villagers said that these dark spots were tarnishing the image of the village as a tourist destination and urged the new panchayat body to find a permanent solution to the issue.
