MAPUSA: The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has requested the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) for extending the period to provide suggestions and objections to Land Use Map and Register of Mapusa Planning Area by 15 days.
MMC chairperson Ryan Braganza convened a special council meeting to provide suggestions to the Land Use Map and Register of Mapusa Planning Area in the municipal hall which was attended by local MLA Joshua D’Souza, NGPDA Member Secretary R Pandita and councillors.
Pandita briefed the council about the different structures, open spaces, water sources and others mentioned on the map. Pandita informed the councillors to go through the map and note down the things missing on the map so that they can be added.
The member secretary said this is a draft map and based on suggestions and objections changes can be made. It was also decided that the ward-wise maps would be provided to the councillors to study their respected wards in order to have clear view of their wards and to provide suggestions which need to be retained.
The council pointed out that there are two grounds in Cuchelim one for cricket ground and the other for football. However, the map shows only the football ground. The council later resolved to write to the NGPDA to add both the grounds on the map as per the old ODP. The council said the farmers in Mapusa had claimed that their names on the Register are missing.
Pandita informed that necessary rectifications would be made if objections are made with proper evidence.
The MMC chief informed that the Member Secretary has assured that the before finalising the map, it would be shown to the council in case of rectifications.
