A court in Mapusa has convicted an Arpora resident in a stalking and assault case, sentencing him to imprisonment along with fines under multiple provisions of the new criminal law.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Akshata Kale found the accused, Sarvesh alias Muru alias Babu, guilty of the charges.

The court sentenced him to three years of simple imprisonment and a fine of ₹15,000 under Section 78. Additionally, he was fined ₹10,000 under Section 79, and awarded one year of simple imprisonment with a further fine of ₹10,000 under Section 333.
The case stems from a complaint filed on May 26 last year by a woman from Arpora, who alleged prolonged stalking by the accused. During the incident, the accused reportedly entered her residence armed with a sickle, restrained her, and issued threats to her life and her family members.
The prosecution was led by Assistant Public Prosecutor Tejas Chodankar, while the investigation was carried out by PSI Saish Kinlekar.
The court’s verdict highlights a strict approach towards offences involving stalking, criminal intimidation, and unlawful entry.
