Mapusa MLA, consultant inspect proposed Mapusa bus stand site

MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA and vice chairman of GSIDC Joshua D’Souza on Monday along with project consultant Rahul Deshpande, officials of KTC, GSIDC and Directorate of Transport inspected the proposed Mapusa bus stand site.
During the inspection, the officials discussed on how the work of the temporary upliftment of proposed bus stand can be undertaken which will provide temporary relief to people with regards to traffic congestion, parking, pollution etc.
The officials discussed on the entry and exit points to avoid entering of interstate buses as state buses could move out and out instead of entering the town. Monsoon water flow, presence of drains and smooth movement of traffic were discussed.
As per the budget allocation for the temporary upliftment, they officials said of 20,000 sq mts, only 10,000 sq mts can be developed.
Joshua D’Souza said, “Special approval is given by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant of Rs 3 crore for temporary upliftment of Mapusa bus stand project, which will include provision of basic infrastructure such as asphalting, tiling, pavers along with footpath, illumination, toilets and shed for commuters and parking of interstate buses before monsoon since the land is lying barren for last 5 years”.
MMC chairperson Ryan Braganza, Tushar Tople, Sandip Falari and Franky Carvalho were present.
