MAPUSA: The Mapusa police arrested Prajyot Chari, 34, from Dangui Colony, Mapusa, Shaid Siddiqui, 29, from Karaswada and Sandesh Salkar, 27, from Dattawadi-Mapusa in connection with motorcycle thefts. Spare parts worth Rs 5 lakh and a tempo truck were seized from the accused.
A garage owner Kalim Mulla from Ganganagar-Khorli, Mapusa on Wednesday filed a complaint at the Mapusa police station that three motorcycles were stolen from his premises.
During the course of inquiry, the police learnt that some of the thieves were fleeing with spare parts in a tempo and were later caught at Karaswada.
Head Constable Sushant Chopdekar, Constables Prakash Polekar, Abhishek Kasar, Anand Rathod and Akshay Patil were instrumental in solving the crime.
A case was filed against the accused has been filed under Section 379 of the IPC against the accused and remanded to two days in police custody.
