Mapusa residents want govt to subsidise fuel prices

Submit memorandum to Bardez Deputy Collector Kapil Phadte

MAPUSA: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Sanjay Barde along with residents of Mapusa approached the Bardez Deputy Collector Kapil Phadte and submitted memorandum demanding that government subsidise the prices of LPG, petrol and Diesel.

Barde said, ”The prices of petrol, diesel and LPG is rising day by day however the salary common has remained the same. Some people have even lost their jobs due to COVID. The pandemic has already hit the common man’s pocket but instead of helping out the common man the BJP government is more bothered to please the people at the Centre”.

“The Common man cannot afford to spend Rs 500 on five litres of petrol and more than Rs 800 on LPG. Parrikar government had promised the people of Goa that price of petrol will not go above Rs 60, however today the price of petrol is almost Rs 90 a litre while forcing people to hit the road. Once the Women’s Wing of the BJP had come out to question about prices of LPG and petrol. Where are they now? We have submitted memorandum to Deputy Collector Bardez and he has assured to forward out demands to higher level”, Barde said.

“The price of LPG has gone up four times in last one month. The economic recession has hit us so badly and Government is not doing anything to improve that. People’s wages are cut, many have lost their jobs and there is mismanagement in country and still the BJP government expects us to vote for them again. We demand that the government bring down the prices of commodities so that the common man can survive”, Sanofar Shaikh, a resident of Mapusa demanded.
