MARGAO: A section of the local community has called for the construction of a flyover bridge at the railway track crossing at Comba given that the subway is constantly water-logged every monsoon despite whatever measures the government takes to repair the subway.
“The chaos and hardship faced by the public, and especially the students’ community seems to be far from being solved, at the Comba Level Crossing, Margao. While several fatal mishaps have occurred here, yet the powers that we have not thought of any permanent solution for over two decades,” Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) Convenor Savio Coutinho said.
“While the bridge at Rawanfond, announced prior to the Assembly elections has hit the ground for technical reasons, and is unlikely to be completed even by 2027, no proposal seems to be forthcoming for a flyover bridge at Comba, Margao,” Coutinho added.
The SCM demanded that the development of Margao is prioritised by the State government and that adequate funds are allocated and the work on the construction of a flyover bridge starts as soon as possible.
