MARGAO: The Margao Muslim Association (MMA) has raised serious allegations of an unauthorised administration takeover of the Arab Sahab Sunni Jama Masjid in Malbhat. The association is demanding swift action from the government in response to the complaints filed with various authorities.
Kadar Shah, President of MMA, expressed his bewilderment at the appointment of an individual who had been rejected by the BJP to assume a position of authority in the Masjid’s administration. He claimed that this administration takeover had been executed with the assistance of an unauthorised committee, enabled by the police and government machinery.
Shah criticised the authorities for their apparent silence and lack of action against the alleged illegalities. He further questioned the rationale behind appointing an individual who had been removed from his role as the BJP’s spokesperson due to , to a position of prominence in the Masjid’s committee.
“The administration of the Arab Sahab Sunni Jama Masjid has been taken over without following due process and holding proper elections. Urfan Mulla falsely claims that elections were held at Anjuman Hall, Rumdamol, which is not true. No election schedule was displayed on the Masjid’s notice board,” Shah asserted.
He also highlighted the traditional practice of conducting open and fair elections within the Masjid premises for selecting committee members. According to Shah, the current administration’s takeover has deviated from this established practice.
