PANJIM: State Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has been re-nominated as a representing member of Goa in the GST Council.
Reportedly, Godinho had represented Goa as the State’s representative in the GST Council during the tenure of the previous governments under Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar.
Unlike other States, where the Finance minister is usually the State’s representative in the GST Council, Godinho represented Goa in his interactions with the GST Council’s chairperson, the Union Finance Minister and other members.
The GST Council is an apex member committee constituted to modify, reconcile or to procure any law or regulation based on the context of goods and services tax in India.
