Mayem readies for historic survey

BICHOLIM: The government will begin the survey of houses and fields of the people of Mayem from Friday so as to give them ownership rights and free them from the custodian law.

According to the information provided by the Mayem Bhu Vimochan Nagrik Kruti Samiti president Kashinath Mayekar, the Survey Department will begin collecting data and conducting the actual survey of the houses and the fields in Mayem from Friday.
“It is a historic day not just for the people from Mayem but also for the state as after more than 50 years the government is surveying Mayem land with a motive to give back to the locals the rights they were fighting for since liberation,” Mayekar told Herald.
