Mayem temple reopened after Mamlatdar’s intervention

BICHOLIM: The temple of Goddess Shri Devi Kelbai at Kelbaiwada, Mayem, which was closed for past 15 days, was reopened on Tuesday afternoon for the devotees. Mamlatdar Rajaram Parab issued a notification to open the doors of the temple based on the letter given by the temple committee.

The temple was shut since March 26, due to the clash of mahajans. The Mamlatdar in his order has stated some conditions as per which the temple priest Shivram Vaze or his family members shall take the keys from the temple committee to open the door for daily rituals. Only the priest shall conduct the rituals. The temple shall be kept open till evening after which it should be closed and hand over the keys to temple committee.

The devotees have been asked to keep the sanctity of the place. The Bicholim police have been directed to maintain the law and order there and take immediate action in case of any violation.

Devotees from Kelbaiwada were present in large numbers when Mamlatdar arrived at 3pm with the priest to open the doors of the temple. Locals were happy that the temple had been reopened.
