Measures in place for dengue: HM

PORVORIM: Following the death of six-year-old school student allegedly due to dengue fever, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday told the State Assembly that all the stringent measures are put in place in Chicalim and surrounding areas to curtail the spread of the disease. 
During Zero Hour mention, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco pointed out the fear and anxiety in the minds of people from Chicalim and surrounding area due to increasing cases of dengue. He said that one six-year old student of Regina Mundi High School died of dengue fever, while more 15 students are affected. 
He demanded that government should take some immediate steps to prevent further spread of the disease, which is manmade. 
Replying to the same, Health Minister said the department has adopted all the measures to curtail the spread of the disease. He said that the contractors and project proponents are also directed to take necessary steps at the construction sites. 
Rane said that the boy was suffering from dengue since July 7 and was admitted to GMC on July 12, after initial treatment at PHC. The kid died on July 21.
