At the meeting held in the Chief Officer Y B Tawde’s cabin, it was decided to follow the High Court order and hold the fair at the SGPDA ground.
Two weeks back, Fatorda and Margao MLAs had agreed to appeal the ruling and get relief.
DySP (Traffic) Prabodh Shirvaikar, Deputy Collector Umakant Korkankar, MMC’s Legal Advisor Sandesh Padiyar, SGPDA member secretary Ashok Kumar and representatives of the vendors’ groups were present.
The order of the High Court came after the Green Goa Foundation had filed a petition against holding the fair on the footpaths of the National Highway.
The High Court in its order had given several options on the fair locations, which included the unused ring road, SGPDA ground and other areas.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai advised the traders and stakeholders to abide by the High Court order.
