VASCO: A group of private bus operators from across the State on Tuesday urged Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho to provide diesel subsidy and financial aid due to the losses incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
They also presented their other grievances to the minister. Godinho in return informed them to meet again to discuss and decide on a plan to solve their problems.

The group of private bus operators in their representation raised the issues of imposition of fines by the RTO for social distancing, 50 per cent of the passenger strength on private bus route and losses faced during the last two months.
During the discussion, Godinho explained to the bus operators that the government cannot provide them with financial aid as the economic situation of the State is not up to the mark at this point.
The minister further mentioned that Transport Director Rajan Satardekar has been instructed to start the diesel subsidy to the 70 applicants immediately within three days time.
Godinho also asked the private bus operators to prepare their proposal to put for a discussion and told them to meet him after 10 days time.
He also assured them to fix their final meeting with the Chief Minister so that their issues can be solved permanently.
