Menino was elected unopposed after the nomination form of Francisco Cardozo reached beyond the stipulated time. Menino has thanked the four panchas who supported him for the post. Five panchas were present for the election.
Addressing to the press after his election, Menino said, “Curbing the garbage menace and improving the overall situation of Colva in terms of garbage management will be my priority.”
He promised to take the panchas and the people of Colva into confidence while carrying out developmental works.
“The issue of Colva creek is also on my list of works,” he added.
The election of Menino was necessitated after Snowkon Gonsalves was voted out on March 14. Snowkon was accused of ignoraning the problems of the village allowing massive irregularities.
