PANJIM: The State of Goa has utilised only Rs 115.83 crore from Rs 196 crore that was released from the inception of Smart Cities Mission for the implementation of Smart City projects.
This data was released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Monday in the Rajya Sabha as part of status report on all Smarty City projects that are either completed or are being implemented across the country.
The Ministry also gave a break up of funds that were allocated to the Smart City in Goa – the capital city of Panjim.
In the year 2015-16, Rs 2 crore was released, and then directly in the year 2017-18, Rs 110.20 crore was released. In the following year of 2018-19, Rs 83.80 crore was released. No additional funds have been released in the last three years including the ongoing financial year of 2021-22.
It may be recalled that Goa’s Smart City Mission has been pulled up earlier for slow implementation of projects as well as the release of State funds for the projects.
