PONDA: Commenting on the speculation that people from neighbour States are managing entry into Goa contrary to what the government has stated, MGP MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavalikar called on the State to exercise serious caution in this regard and check into the allegations.
While addressing media persons on Tuesday, Dhavalikar said that he had been receiving some complaints from locals that some of the lower ranked staff manning the borders, such as the police, RTO etc are misusing their powers without the knowledge of their higher-ups and allowing ‘free and comfortable entry of private vehicles and taxis during the night’.
He warned that ‘this may invite a major spread of coronavirus in Goa in the near future.’ On a similar note, he expressed concern that NOCs are being given without proper advice by the District Collectors, to vehicles crossing the borders.
‘Shameful CM Relief Fund received only Rs 10 cr’
Dhavalikar said it’s very shameful that that the Goa Chief Minister COVID-19 Relief Fund received only around Rs 10 crore in 45 days.
He further compared Goa’s status to the relief funds of other States and the PM Care fund and said that at least Rs 50 crore should have been generated in Goa’s account by now.
He added that in that regard, he had given suggestions to the government at the very beginning.
