‘Mhaji Lab Bari Lab’ Award Scheme approved for schools

PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved the ‘Mhaji Lab Bari Lab’ – Goa State Best ICT Laboratory Award Scheme for government and government-aided school labs so as to improve utilisation of laboratory infrastructure in all schools across the State.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that two laboratories each from both the districts will be selected for the award provided the winning labs should have enrolment of minimum 100 student members for the last three years. He said that the scheme has been introduced to recognise the hard work put in by the staff of ICT laboratory and to make optimum use of the ICT equipments.

The other decisions approved by the Cabinet were to hand over the newly built Sankhali bus stand to the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) for operations and maintenance; filling of five posts of medical officers at Central Jail, Colvale on contract basis; hike in jail staff salary to bring the salary on par with police personnel; maternity leave for female staff working on contract basis as per the Maternity Benefit Act; clearing of 26 lower division clerks (LDC) and 18 multi-tasking staff (MTS) on contract basis through Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) as against the sanctioned staff strength in the Department of Settlement and Land Records and summoning and prorogation of Goa Legislative Assembly from July 18 to August 10.  

Doles to be transferred to beneficiaries by 10th of every month: CM: The Departments of Social Welfare and the Women and Child Development have been asked to streamline their functioning to ensure that beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes receive their money transferred in their bank accounts by 10th of every month.

After reviewing all the security schemes in the presence of officials of both the departments, Sawant said that as many as 11,513 applications of Griha Aadhar Scheme have been discontinued while, some are kept on hold due to issues of bank mergers and dormant accounts. Also 276 pending applications of Laadli Laxmi Scheme wherein the applicants are 40 years and above will be reviewed and cleared. Also functioning of all the government departments will be streamlined, he said.

Meanwhile, Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) card will be compulsory henceforth for availing health services at the government health facilities such as health centres, Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) etc. 

Goa Electronic Limited (GEL) has been instructed to keep their centres open all 365 days for making and renewal of DDSSY cards.

The Directorate of Health Services has been asked to initiate necessary steps so that bills from empanelled hospitals under DDSSY bills are processed and cleared every month.
