MARGAO, JULY 27
Former Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco was on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail by the South Goa Sessions court in the forgery and cheating case registered against him at the Quepem and Margao police stations.
Additional Sessions Judge B P Deshpande ordered the release of Pacheco on a bail of Rs 5000 if arrested in the case.
While granting bail, Judge Deshpande observed that police could have very well taken the specimen signature of Pacheco for the last one year if they were interested in investigating the case.
Pacheco had moved the court fearing arrests in the forgery and cheating registered by the Quepem and Margao police following complaints lodged by his estranged wife Sara.
Earlier, Pacheco’s lawyer, T Karmali submitted to the court over the delay of more than one year and half in investigating the case since the registration of the case. He further said that no efforts were made to arrest the former Minister in these cases during the last one year and half.
