PANJIM: In a hit and run case near Vithal Temple in Ribandar, a middle aged man sustained injuries after a four-wheeler dashed against him and fled from the scene, only to be stopped by locals after a distance.
According to Old Goa Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, the Panjim PCR informed that vehicular accident had taken place at Vithal Temple in Ribandar. Upon inquiry by the Old Goa Police staff that reached the spot it was revealed that the accused person Mosam Vadekar (30 years) resident of Sao Pedro in Old Goa drove his car in rash and negligent manner without taking proper care and caution.
He further informed that while proceeding from Old Goa to Panjim via Ribandar when the accused person reached near Vithal Temple he dashed a two-wheeler proceeding in the opposite direction. Due to the impact of the collision, the scooter rider Ramesh Gaonkar, sustained injury and was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The accused driver of the car, Mosam, fled away from the accident spot with his vehicle, leaving behind the injured at the spot. He was, however, stopped by the public at Fondvem in Ribandar.
Old Goa Police have registered a case against Mosam under Sections 279 and 337 of Indian Penal Code and under Section 134 (a)(b) of Motor Vehicle Act.
Head Constable Vinay Naik is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
