PONDA: Is Ponda town 127 kilometres away from Panjim? Apparently so, according to a milestone located near an educational institute at Farmagudi along the NH4A highway.
Motorists travelling from Ponda to Panjim have been baffled by a milestone installed near an educational institute at Farmagudi, which indicates the distance to Panjim as 127 kms, when it should have been about 28 kms.
What is also interesting is that a similar distance to reach Belgaum is mentioned on the other side of the milestone.
Inquires with the PWD (Roads Division) have revealed that the glaring error could have been committed while the milestone was being re-painted by workers.
