PANJIM: Labour Minister Atanasio Monserrate said that minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers will be revised within next two months even as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Goa Council has urged the government to hold the revision.
Monserrate said that the government is on the verge of forming a committee, which once constituted will hold discussions and revise the minimum wages in the State. Minimum wages in Goa will be revised within next two months, he added.
Meanwhile, the CII, an apex industry association in the country has requested the government to defer the proposal to increase minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers in view of Goa already being positioned on the higher end of the spectrum.
According to CII, Goa State Council Chairperson Swati Salgaocar, an increase at this point of time would affect industry adversely.
