PANJIM: Sankhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant said that in spite of the mining closure, the Goa government has not only continued to extend its existing schemes but has also floated additional schemes aimed at betterment of the community.
He also appreciated the initiative of Centre for Development Planning and Research (CDPR) to bring various self-help groups under a single roof to create awareness among them about various government schemes and linking them for the welfare of people.
The Deputy Speaker of the Goa Assembly and Mayem MLA Anant Shet appreciated the efforts of the company for performing its duty.
Shet and Sawant were addressing a gathering of nearly 200 women affiliated to different self-help groups from Bicholim and surrounding areas during a one-day awareness and linkage programme of government schemes, organised by Sesa Sterlite along with Centre for Development Planning and Research at Bicholim.
