VASCO: Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida has alleged that the fishing ban is not being implemented strictly.
He claims that fishing ban is being violated by some fishermen and high powered motors are being used for fishing during the ban period.
“No canoes, boats and trawlers should be allowed during fishing ban period,” he said.
He informed that some fishermen told him that there is some setting with fisheries department therefore no strict action is being taken on such violations.
Almeida opined that if such malpractices continue, then, there won’t be fish available soon. He also informed that he urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take cognisance of the issue.
