PONDA: Demanding that Rs 100 crore of Rs 1,061 crore released by Central government towards GST be used in public interest, former PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday asked the government to stop issuing new tenders for development works.
Briefing media persons, he called upon the government to utilise above Rs 100 crore to clear payments of various beneficiaries including senior citizens of government schemes such as Griha Aadhar, Bal Rath etc, and for setting up the COVID facility and added that the State should adopt austerity measures.
Criticising the government with regards to COVID 19 pandemic, Assembly Session, Sanjivani sugar factory and other issues, he demanded that the Opposition voice be heard.
He called for allotting Rs 61 crore to clear dues of the agitating farmers of Sanjivani sugar factory.
He criticised former Panjim MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker and BJP members for equating the walkout and protest by opposition MLAs during the daylong Assembly session to “goondagardi”. Sudin said he never committed any “goondagardi” in his life.
